PREVIEW: Sucker Punch

Set in the 1950s, Sucker Punch follows the story of a young girl who is institutionalized by her sinister stepfather and is facing a lobotomy. Recessing into an alternate reality, she envisions her escape from the institution with befriended inmates which consists of stealing five objects before she is caught.  Starring Emily Browning as BabyDoll with supporting roles from the lovely Vanessa Hudgens (Blondie)Jamie Chung (Amber), Jena Malone (Rocket), Abbie Cornish (Sweet Pea) and Carla Gugino (Madam Gorski), Sucker Punch is due out in Spring 2011.

Official Trailer Comic-Con 2010

Zack Snyder has had a pretty impressive record so far in creating films that are fun to watch. Going into the 2004 remake of Dawn of the Dead I had little to no expectation for this fanboy director to blow me away but an enjoyable experience, along with subsequent pleasantries, has made me believer. Maybe it is unfair to pit high expectations on a movie that isn't to be released in a year but with a trailer consisting of (but not limited to) samurai, Nazis, a burlesque show and a dragon, Sucker Punch does a good job of raising people's expectations on it's own.
